hhm I donno. I do know color pencils can be hard to use when trying for a professional look, although they (to me anyway) are more forgiving if you make a slight mistake.

Markers are pretty if they are used right if the paper is too thin then the ink will sink right thru it and make the paper wrinkle. I know you can do a whole lot with them including highlights and shades but I don't know the level of which is skill is involved.

pastels don't smudge easy (nither do the last too but still it shocked me when I tried them >_> they have a distinct grit to them which looks good with fine art. I do not know if many artist in the anime genre use pastel, it might be abundant for all i know. tho pastel is nice when you want the pict to have a sense of texture
